About

One Peppercorn is a weblog about the language of food, whether fictional or factual, historical or current.

The title comes from the song Scarborough Fair:

Tell her to find me an acre of land
between the salt water and the sea strand.
Tell her to plow it with a ram’s horn,
and sow it all over with one peppercorn.

I’m a food hobbyist and historian living in the greater London area. I’ve been writing about restaurants, food tourism, and food events for years on my other weblog. In contrast, this weblog is a specifically a product of my love of food, words, and language generally.
